Clare Lawrence

MA Distinction, MBACP

I am a qualified counsellor, psychotherapist and mental health occupational therapist. I have over twenty years experience of supporting clients with their mental health.

Currently, I work in the NHS and also have a private practice. Furthermore, I  have experience working in education, the charitable sector and beyond. My breadth of experince means I bring a wide, grounded perspective, to each person I sit with.

I work with adults on a one-to-one basis. I draw mainly upon Psychodynamic, Gestalt and Person-centred modalities and weave in other theories and interventions such as mindfulness, somatic and body-based work, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, where helpful. This means our work together is shaped around you — your history, your patterns, your pace. Rather than offering a fixed formula, I bring curiosity and warmth to each session, helping you to understand yourself more deeply and find your own way forward. If this appeals to you, we can also take our sessions outside or bring in creativity, because healing doesn't have to happen in a room.

I am non-judgemental, LGBTQ+, neuro affirming and trauma informed and I welcome people of all backgrounds and identities.

Outside of work, you'll usually find me outdoors — walking my dog, practising yoga, catching up with friends, or losing myself in a good film.
